Gravitating to Your Gold
The stars reach their peak in the night sky, and I am taken by the scene. These stars do not consider that they are hot and burning bright. Yet we look at them in wonder, shining through the peaceful night. And so it is with your brand of distinction. Your genius, your gifts, and your value is so innate to you. So natural. So close, that you don’t feel it is of distinction. Because of that, you will often discount it as something you just “simply” do.
Often it’s hard to see the picture, when you are in it.
Residing in you, is a craft or form that you are so devoted to refining (and have been so devoted to – not even knowing), that your depth, sophistication and insights become magnetic to a hungry crowd of customers. You may not realize this yet – because it is like seeing behind your eyes. But to the human beings watching, what comes natural to you is admired. Human beings, who may have been waiting many years of their lives, to finally experience you.
When you work with what I have to share, I am certain you will get a peek into the unique gift you are, what you’d love to share, and the value that comes with that. The possibilities are endless.
Recall that your brand is an extension of you. So to create a brand of impact, a brand of vision and a brand that is revered by many – you must get clear on what you really would love to share with the world that is of value. Something that inspires you to jump out of bed every morning and get to it. Something that is on your mind all the time – like a borderline ‘obsession.’
Suppose you love painting flowers during the spring. Maybe your message is to visually express the emotion and essence of nature’s resurrection, through the flowers of spring. Maybe you want to do that to bring people an ever greater sense of peace and appreciation for their connection with the natural environment, and to see it as a catalyst for a new era for their own lives. The color, the shades, and the forms in your painting might stimulate a feeling so deep that the observer can’t help but pause in their tracks.
Your craft and what you have to share, stirs something sacred in your audience. It leaves a gentle mark on their hearts that can’t be erased. To uncover it, it helps to take a trip down memory lane…
As a seven year old child, I remember my first lesson on how to write in English. My teacher at the time was teaching me how to print letters of the alphabet, copy words that I had never heard of before, and construct sensible sentences using the words at least once. For example, “construct a sentence using the word walk.” My response was “I walk to school every day.” When I walked to her desk, which was sitting in front of her blackboard, I showed her my work. She made corrections and suggestions in a fascinating way. She scribbled them on my paper in red pen, while verbalizing what she meant. The writing style was something I had never seen in my life before. It was running writing.
And just that single moment inspired me to go home and learn how to write that way because something in me as a child, knew that it would be of significance. Of course – I never realized till about twenty years later.
Today- my greatest literary inspirations still come from putting ink to paper, in my own writing style which integrates full capitalization of every single word, and running writing – my symbol of both strength and gentle flow. And I continue to develop that, and I even study typography to understand how the visual style of the written word impacts readers emotionally.

If you think it just happens to be a truth for me and a rare few– I ask you reconsider because the same is true for many clients I have worked with to date. For example, meet Victoria Jennings, an honorable educator, trainer and global entrepreneur – only started her teaching career in her 30’s. However, looking closely at her life history, as a six year old, she used to write on her blackboard and teach her Barbie dolls what she had learnt in school that day.
Today, that is exactly what she does. She teaches. She is creating a new educational paradigm for both schools and corporations, which focuses on teaching people to embrace their natural talents as a way for succeeding in life. And as a result, she has impacted thousands of lives in Australia, and has built a very successful Registered Training Organization.
Jason Bawden-Smith – a successful Australian entrepreneur, investor and speaker, used to imagine himself protecting the ocean with technology as he swam underwater in his backyard pool as a kid. Since then, Jason has built a multimillion dollar environmental business, being the first in Australia to use a hand-held technology for analyzing toxic content in soils.
The list goes on.
Your life history will provide you with profound insight as to where your life’s treasures lie. It surprises me how obsessed society is with the history of our world, yet little attention is given to understanding our personal history. To look closely at our own lives and reflect upon the common threads that make us who we are today.
- What did you always dream of becoming as a child?
- What does everyone else value you for that you may be unwilling to acknowledge and own?
- What are some of the things you would love to do more in life that you have already been doing all your life, and that has been just waiting to be consciously acknowledged?
- What awards, trophies or certificates do you have, that you don’t consider to be that significant in terms of achievement (but really, they are)?
Think about it for a few minutes. As you take a few deep and slow breaths, and your mind gets clearer and clearer, notice what bubbles up. Let it rise to the surface.
